VOTE WITH YOUR FEET - 2006

Labjacd - Vote With Your Feet

LABJACD's first full-length album was recorded with the whole band live in the studio to maintain the energy they have on stage. Having all the instruments in separate rooms permitted touch-ups and vocals to be recorded later.

The end result is a tight-sounding studio album that reflects the dynamics of the LABJACD live show.

Reviews

  • 20/10/06 - Sydney Morning Herald / Metro (Paris Pompor)

'... [LABJACD] have enough butane in their hips to keep a Cuban conga line puffing all night.'

    • 08/09/06 - Inpress (Thomas Baker)

'... plenty of the energy that this nine-piece exhibits when they're crowding the stage has transferred to their excellent debut album ... a few listens of the album will rapidly prove they're not just a one trick pony'

    • 13/02/06 - Time Off (Nathan Shea)

'... breathtakingly orginal... Some of the best Aussie hip-hop floating around at the moment, made all the better through its Latin American heritage.'

    • 3/02/06 - Tsunami Magazine (Amanda)

An excellent addition to the Australian hip-hop scene that even yo mamma will love... As tasty as the perfect taco.'

    • 31/1/06 - Rave Magazine (Peter B)

'Beautiful jazzy guitar tone, piercing festive horns and energetic Latin percussion all work together to create the perfect backdrop for the English and Spanish vocal/MC mixture'

    • 31/8/05 - Beat Magazine (Jaymz)

'Man, this is what the Cat Empire wish they were. Good. Funky latino beats, and bitten off, yet cruisy-as-hell lyrics, all making for a sweet groove-a-thon of mammoth proportions. Makes me want to grow a pencil moustache and finally prove my swarthy Latin charm.'
